For real though, they arenāt unlike many other fundamentalist sects across different religions, so one going in should expect pretty strict adherence to their interpretation of biblical doctrine. Thatās one of the things theyāre famous for, besides the no technology, raising barns, and building quality wooden furniture. Nowadays, thereās a bit of flexibility regarding technology depending on which Amish community you live in, especially if itās to promote an Amish business, but there are still limits. All that being said, most newcomers who leave do cite the religious aspects as growing tiresome over time.
But itās not like the Amish are the kind of people who wonāt let you leave or anything, theyāre actually pretty big on the idea that one has to want to be a part of the Amish church and that it canāt be forced on anyone; they even have that Rumspringa thing were kids are sent out into modern society at 16 until they decide whether they want to formally join the church or not. They donāt believe in evangelism of any kind. I canāt claim to be any kind of expert, though, Iāve just had a personal fascination with them for awhile.
I didnāt intend for my first comment to come off that way, but I believe everything Iāve said is factual.
The Amish tend to be pretty insular communities that have had the same extended families for generations, so being truly accepted might take a few years. Most āEnglishā people who join tend to return to ordinary life within that time after the charm of the rustic lifestyle wears off. Youād also be required to learn Pennsylvania Dutch, as well as abide by all the other community rules, of course. Some Mennonite communities live pretty similar lifestyles, but are a little more relaxed in terms of strictness, so you may find them more forgiving, especially if itās to continue studies.
The ādonā suffix just means tooth, so it doesnāt necessarily have to do with dinosaurs; there are a number of mammalian genera that got it, like Smilodon, Daeodon, Dorudon, and Thrinaxodon

Celebrated? Thatās not how I remember it at all. From what I recall, everyone pretty much immediately understood what was about to be lost and mourned it when it was gone. There was a huge effort to archive all the flash content people could find, so many people obviously felt flash content was worth preserving. Iāve got a flash emulator that natively has pretty much every flash game and animation I remember from when I was a kid. I might have to boot it up for a bit tonight for old timeās sake.
Iāve long wondered why airports donāt have movie theaters, arcades, and private sleeping spaces for exactly those times when travelers have hours long layovers.
Thank you for creating Boondocks content
I think this might be it, thanks so much! Solved.
I suppose this could be it, but only if thereās been a major change since I last saw it. The website was free when I used it and was a pretty simple website. I think it served a similar function, though.
I donāt think I commented on it or even voted on it, unfortunately. Iām one of those bad users who chooses not to interact that much. Iāve already looked through my vote and comment history, but I didnāt find it there. Itās quite possible it was submitted prior to 6 months ago, it might be that I just remember using it around the end of August. I donāt remember the icon, though a pinkish, magenta color seems to be coming through the memory. That might be made up, though; I really canāt remember for sure. Iām almost certain it was posted within the last year, though, and Iām leaning towards sometime during the summer or perhaps late spring. I think it might have been made by someone on Lemmy and they were sharing their own creation. I already looked through submissions around that time with ājobā or āI madeā and didnāt find it then, either, but maybe someone else will have better luck. I hope they didnāt delete it. Thatās all I can remember, Iām afraid.
