Back in June I took Amtrak’s Coast Starlight all the way up to Seattle and back to see the Mariners sweep my Cleveland Guardians. As I planned this trip I became more excited about the journey itself as I was the destination. It’s a 31 hour ride with beautiful views of the Pacific, forests, and Mt. Shasta along the way.
It was my first time ever booking a roomette as well, as I knew I would get terrible sleep otherwise and it was a bit of a splurge but absolutely worth it!
When you book a sleeper car, meals in the dining car are included and they seat you with who ever else happens to have reservations for the same time. As an introvert this would ordinarily be way out of my comfort zone, but train culture made it kind of easy.
On the way back I was seated with these 2 guys from California who were traveling together and they became weirdly excited to talk about 9/11 when they heard the timeline of me having lived in NYC (1999-2019).
I’m like wow you woke up hungover and turned on the TV and thought it was a movie that’s crazy! 😂
I went camping this weekend and my neighbor was telling me of the time he got removed from a nearby campsite for threatening someone with a gun but he explained it in a way that made it sound like he was the victim.
“I’ll never go THERE again!”
Kettle potato chips were on sale tonight, three-for-one, and I got to make the reference! Unfortunately, neither the cashier nor anyone in line seemed familiar with the movie Game Night.
BTW, anyone interested in a game of Boggle? I need to move some chips.
