They're here! The Austrians have arrived! (and the French...)
A big congratulations to Richard/Histogames, I'm sure this one feels like a victory from the jaws of defeat.
This is the application form for the "New Voices in Gaming" fund! If that sounds like it might just maybe in any way... then flipping apply! What have you got to lose?
Please use this form to apply for the New Voices in Gaming Scholarship to Tabletop Network 2023 (http://www.tabletopnetwork.com/). The goal of the scholarship is to increase the participation of underrepresented groups in tabletop game design. The conference begins the evening of Sunday November 12th, concluding in the afternoon of Tuesday November 14th. It is held in Dallas TX, just before BGG.CON, at the same hotel. The scholarship includes a Tabletop Network badge, 2 nights (Sunday / Monday) in the conference hotel (with roommate), and reimbursement of up to $500 in travel expenses. Note: Unlike previous years, the scholarship does not include a badge for BGG.CON. Hotel room may be carried over into BGG.CON if desired, at your expense. All applications are due by August 13th. Winners will be announced by August 31st.
A fantastic little complilation of thoughts on scoring for party games https://www.thedarkimp.com/blog/2023/07/14/scoring-in-party-games/
I think the takeaway that scorings' primary function should really be to align behaviours is true; all good games have fun outside the act of scoring a point (though scoring being fun is no sin, it just shouldn't be the only fun!)
A lovely preview from Fred of a game I had a blast playing- but perhaps more relevant to all of tapletop.social - ConSim Game Jam 3 news!
