@nelson Yep. Not to mention the fact of things like battery life. I have two phones, an "old" iPhone 12, and a Google Pixel 9…. The iPhones battery lasts longer.
@nelson That’s the thing. Apple and android marketing is completely different…. Apple is a product price first company whereas Google for example is an advertisement first company. That’s why Apple charges unreasonable rates, they make products that don’t get in your way. Android phones do which is why most of them are cheap and riddled with spyware… case in point Samsung literally has Israeli spyware on their phones.
@nelson I’ve been using iOS for a while over android, started a little challenge on the 11th… I can definitely understand why you prefer it because iOS just doesn’t bother you nearly as much as android. Literally every time I would open the photos app Google would tell me to back my stuff up to their bullshit proprietary servers… to which I told them to fuck off, of course. And considering that android is going in the direction of "you want third party apps? Fuck you that’s not gonna be an option anymore" I see no reasonable reason to use it over iOS…. Android just bothers the living hell out of me for no good reason.
@mudkip these people so retarded bruh
So I went without my smartphone for a month basically. No regrets. It was a very productive month. In that time I managed to: 1. Harbour an impressive record collection, including Analogue records by Metallica and Nirvana.
2. Get around in places I had never been around before and familiarise myself with the area.
3. Expand my VHS and DVD collection drastically.
4. Fix my CRT's built in VCR.
5. Hook up a DVD player AND a Freeview box to said CRT to watch TV on.
6. Become more socially confident (still an introvert at heart though!)
I missed my friends, but it was a productive month nonetheless. I'm glad to be back.
@micr0 Do not allow the thoughts of some to drown your emotions. You are an incredible person for what you are doing; altbot may not be 100% accurate but people can always edit alt text themselves if they have an issue. You are providing a free resource to thousands that many would pay good money for. Making alt text available to many more people cause some don't or can't write nearly as much as your bot does, and that's amazing. Please don't let what a few people think get you down in the dumps, cause you're doing incredible work, like it or not. I hope the move goes well for you, and good luck moving forward.
I have a CRT now
I think I will upgrade my VHS player to a multi-region one, specifically a PAL + NTSC one. Will just stick with my current one for a while though as it is very solid and built like a tank.
