Alright,

A few days ago, I said that I was moving instances in a few hours... Whoops... Busier times than I thought.

Well, I'm not sure if it's going to happen just yet (I really should be going to bed right now), but if you want to make sure you follow me over there, you can do it manually.

(yes, while I love the idea of being just "David" or "DavidB" as a handle, I thought it made more sense that I have the same handle (almost) everywhere.

Hello everybody.
I think it's time for a big migration again.
I liked the idea of being on a flagship instance, but my philosophy about the Fediverse is that in an ideal world, there would be only smallish instances. So time to walk the talk and move... Again, I know.
It will happen in the next few hours if offline life doesn't keep me too busy, or in the next few days otherwise.

So don't be surprised if you see me following you again from a new account. This will be what's happening.

However, there have been cases when some follows have not migrated for some reason (it happened to me the last time I moved as well as to some other people).
I'll post the name of the new account as soon as it's created so that you can check if you're following it or not.

@LALegault As much as I hate Macron (and wait til you hear about Darmanin, the Interior Minister, he's the one who banned such protests) and as much as I want to believe, I'm not totally convinced of the timeline here.
The ban took place yesterday after such protests.

@jpaskaruk My guess is that Mastodon wants to remain a microblogging platform, other platforms embrace the longer format.

However, note that before I moved to Firefish (in parts for the longer format), I was on a Mastodon instance that allowed 5,000 characters, so that's something possible (but I guess the admin needs to tweak a few things.)
