Y'all have a fun, safe, and great weekend, m'kay.
#Japan #weekend #seascape #sunset #SetoInland Sea Oh, come on, y'all... You can do better and you know it.
(see top of the thread for those who missed it)
So apparently, I was in California for a few minutes this weekend.
Not sure what happened? A wormhole? Do they have a malfunctioning teleporter behind these fences?
I'm not sure why the owners of these three cars went to all these lengths to honor my country this morning, but thanks, I guess.
#France Grogu (aka Baby Yoda) drinking a bowl of frog soup or something.
#StarWars #Cloud #Grogu #BabyYoda It seems like it's the time of the year when I start drawing again.
(I should have taken a picture when it was only pencil, I kind of messed up the eyes while inking)
#drawing #sandman Meanwhile, in Japan, the Halloween season has started, right on time.
(it starts the last week of August and usually ends on October 30th)
#Japan #Halloween Is Threads coming to the Fediverse?
As it's now available on web browsers, I've been using it a little more (it still has a lot of room for improvement, it lacks so many basic features). And I noticed something I never noticed before. Maybe it was already there? I don't know.
A small "threads.net" box next to user names (not too dissimilar to the small instance box on Firefish's feed). (see picture one).
And when you click on it, this text appears: "Soon, you'll be able to follow and interact with people on other fediverse platforms, like Mastodon. They can also find people on Threads using full usernames, like @username@instance" (see picture two).
Does it mean that Threads is finally federating with the Fediverse?
That's pretty exciting.
I know a lot of people are worried about that, but I also think they're overreacting and/or misunderstanding how the Fediverse works (and when you see how they only talk about Mastodon and ignore the other services, I tend to believe it's the latter)
Yes, I find this pretty exciting, because as much as we love the Fediverse, a lot of people are ignoring it, because they find it a bit too difficult to get started with... and let's be honest, they're right. It's not difficult for geeks like most of us, but for someone who's not terminally online, just want to create an account in two seconds and start using the thing, the Fediverse is indeed difficult (I even find some of my best friends reluctant to be here because they don't want to bother with the learning curve, and I'm talking about very smart people)
And yes, I think Threads federating will be a gateway and an introduction to the Fediverse for many people.
So, yes, it's exciting. And all the instances that preemptively blocked Threads have preemptively severed themselves from an opportunity to make the Fediverse mainstream. Well, we'll try without them, then. It's a shame they're not willing to help.
Oh well...
OR
This box was there since day one and I never noticed it and don't mind me... π€·π
EDIT: And I'm muting anyone who just wants to be a doomsayer, we heard you last Spring. I heard enough and if I can give you any advice it is to try to understand how the Fediverse works since you're using it and all.

I guess it's a good thing France is not so hung up about how to treat its flag as some other country I know, or else, I'd be in trouble...
#France #flag Probably the last two Raids of the day and nobody's there... π
I still don't have a shiny...
(Hopefully my European and American firends will invite me for a few Raids tonight.)
