Not all Gashapon are WTF (I just usually post those), some are also extremely cute or crazy cool. They're usually the hardest ones to resist (my wife didn't let me buy the Jaws one. :-(

Dear #newcomers and other #newbies from yet another #TwitterMigration (yes, I'm using lots of #hashtags because otherwise, how are you going to see this?), instead of telling you what you should or shouldn't do here, on the #Fediverse (honestly, just look at what the regulars are doing and pick up from them, just like any other social circle on or offline), I decided to give you a small welcoming present.

See, I live in #Japan and I hate the #WeirdJapan trope. However, there is one domain where it's all true. It's with the #Gashapon aka #Gacha aka Capsule Toys.

Once in a while, when I go shopping, I browse the Gacha Gacha section and take pictures of the weirdest ones. Here is my last batch. Follow the 🧵⤵

Oh, one more thing: if you're wondering how I can type such a message - after all, #Mastodon only allows for 500 characters per post... well, there is a twist... The Fediverse extends way beyond Mastodon, and not every service does the same thing - here I am on Calckey, not on Mastodon and you can read this message. This too is the magic of the Fediverse... Fun fact: I've lived in Japan for more than 11 years and I think it's the first time I had FamiChiki!!!

How is this possible, you're asking?
Well, first I rarely eat Konbini lunch, but when I do, it tends to be Lawson or 7-Eleven, just because of location. However, the closest konbini near my house is indeed a FamilyMart, and today I'm alone at home, it's raining, and I don't feel like grocery shopping or cooking, so... I thought it was the perfect opportunity to give it a try.

Verdict: It's not that good. I much prefer its 7-Eleven counterpart (which is unoriginally called NanaChiki).
