I've seen this same polypore on this same tree for 3 years in a row now. That top bracket is backwards somehow and facing the tree trunk and now it's all scrunched up like a tortellini. So that's new. I think this is Ganoderma curtisii (Golden Reishi). On the other side of the trunk there are some Ganoderma sessile specimens as well.
