[GIMP 3] Has anyone gotten a Python 3 plug-in to work on Windows?
I tried both the “Hello, World [https://developer.gimp.org/resource/writing-a-plug-in/tutorial-python/#code-reimplementing-hello-world-in-python-3]” one, and the Goat [https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/blob/master/extensions/goat-exercises/goat-exercise-py3.py] one. I saved the “Hello, World” one as C:\Users\Me\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\3.0\plug-ins\py3-hello-world\py3-hello-world.py as instructed. I did the same for the goat one, but named it “goat-exercise-py3”. I double-checked the plug-ins folder path in Preferences, and that’s one of the two. Incidentally, the code in the two files are different in regards to initializing the plugins. The Goat one includes “.py” in the call to init, but the “Hello, World” one does not: GimpUi.init("goat-exercise-py3.py") plug_in_binary = "py3-hello-world" GimpUi.init(plug_in_binary) I tried using the nominal shebang line included, and also tried changing it to an actual path to Python on my system. I can see GIMP attempt to load py3-hello-world.py [http://py3-hello-world.py] during startup, but when I create a new file and look for it anywhere in GIMP, including the Procedure Browser, I don’t see it. I’ve made a few python plugins for GIMP 2 using python fu, and have had no trouble with them, but I can’t get either of these demo ones to load. I don’t even know where the “Hello, World” one is supposed to show with a menu path like this: "<Image>/Hell_o Worlds", so I changed it to "<Image>/File/Hell_o Worlds" like I’ve done for custom export scripts I’ve made for GIMP 2. Any ideas?
Now it’s my friend.
Once again, I resumed a game hours later and forgot I had +3 Mimic's Tooth.
[Bug] Equipping another artifact and replacing Holy Tome breaks auto-targetting.
I’m not sure of the exact steps to reproduce this, but I put three points into the Light Reading talent, and then equipped Master Thieves’ Armband replacing the tome. Then I tried to cast Sunray on an enemy and noticed it didn’t autotarget them. I had to do it manually. And now no ranged weapons or spells will auto-target enemies. Quitting to the main menu or force closing the game didn’t help. The only thing that fixed auto-targeting was re-equipping the tome. Anytime I equip Master Thieves’ Armband by replacing the tome, I lose autotargeting. However, if I manually unequip the tome first, I don’t lose autotargeting, not even when I equip the armband afterward.
[Bug?] Can't inspect a mimic when I don't have vision on it, but can still see it due to Mimic's Tooth
If I inspect the chest on the left, it’s a chest. If I inspect the chest on the right, it inspects the floor. It just surprises me that it’s like the mimic one isn’t even there. (When I first tried to inspect it, I didn’t know it was a mimic yet.) I’m guessing this happens because you can’t inspect an enemy you can’t see, and showing the mimic when you don’t have vision on it is something extra added by Mimic’s Tooth to make it less distinguishable from ordinary chests. (Normally, mimics aren’t shown unless you currently have vision on them.) I’m playing Beta 3.1, but this has probably been this way forever.
Would is be possible to give a "buff" to enemies you've already blinded once with the Sunray?
The buff wouldn’t do anything, of course, except visually indicate they are immune to being blinded from Sunray again. I imagine there must already be a hidden buff behind the scenes that never wears off. Sometimes in big fights I lose track of which scorpion I blinded, for example, and trying to blind it again several turns later can be disasterous. I would understand if you feel it’s balanced the way it is.
[Bug] Editing a post body and saving it doesn't refresh the post. Editing it a second time edits theboriginal version.
This issue has bitten me several times. I’ll make an edit to fix a couple of typos that I saw immediately after posting, and then I’ll see something else or want to add some more context. So I’ll edit the post again, but it edits the contents of the original post, therefore I put back in all my typos! When it first happened, I thought I was going crazy and ended up going back and forth, fixing the same two typos over and over! 😂 For a test, I’m going to edit this post to add the text, “first edit”. Then I’m going to edit it again after 10 seconds to add the words “second edit”. Second edit.
Banned from ITAP for criticising the mod's use of it. Am I the asshole?
I’m probably an asshole sometimes. When people act like bullies or Nazis, I tell them to fuck off. I’m no saint. I do try to be fair, and also brutally honest. Here’s my personal modlog [https://lemmy.world/modlog?page=1&userId=1793453]. I have nothing to hide. ::: spoiler A defense of my modlog… OpinionHavers was a place for trolls and right wingers to spout shitty opinions. Raccoon is a Lemmy app. Someone posted a screenshot of their search, saying they couldn’t find the app on F-Droid. I pointed out that they spelled “Raccoon” wrond since it has two Cs, and got my comment removed by the mod for being “annoying”. LOL! I was literally pointing out the problem with their search. 🤦♂️ I still can’t believe this one! They also removed another comment where I asked someone why they didn’t just edit their original comment to correct an error instead of only doing so in a reply to a reply, since it was confusing people. That one got removed too. That’s when I said “Fuck this community” because the mod and app author was just so heavy-handed. I’m certain the “hot glue” thing was a joke and not an attack, Although I don’t remember the context. I sure it was posted as a joke question, and not a suggestion that someone do it like an insult. It only got removed as “gross”. That SPH sub was some kind of roleplaying sub. Or maybe they’re taking themselves seriously. I don’t know. But I gave a roleplaying answer that said, “don’t click this link” that op had posted and I got banned. In c/technology, someone said I sounded like in “ad” when I listed what I liked about YouTube Premium, and they said I triggered their “uncanny valley response” and then said “never do that again”. Which was kind of weird and ticked me off a little. So to prove I wasn’t a bot, I said, “Would it help if I said, ‘fuck off’?” Removed. That picture towards the end was because someone kept posting the same insult over and over again, so I screenshotted their profile and shared it as a reply saying they need to come up with a new insult. Here’s the picture. [https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/e499dd77-39dd-40b7-9dae-fc2d1829bcc3.png]. Removed. At any rate, I don’t think I’m a real asshole. ::: Trying to be fair and brutally honest is why I got banned. ITAP on Lemmy.world is modded exclusively by Stamets. He’s a power mod and heavy user of Lemmy. He’s really active. He created the community and named it “ITAP” after the subreddit of the same name. The point of that original subreddit is to post OC photos. It’s right in the name. But his community rules specifically say that you can post non-OC. I find that a little weird, but it’s okay. His community, his rules. Here are the rules for his own ITAP… (Wow, I think rule 7 is new, and I feel like it’s specifically calling me out. That’s funny. I swear rule 4 is new, too because Stamets doesn’t follow it, which is the whole point of this post, as I’ll explain soon.) Maybe I’m wrong on both counts. I can’t exactly check it now. He definitely doesn’t follow his own rule 4. I checked the rules very recently and even quoted them to somebody else in the community when they complained about non-OC. I feel like every rule after 3 is new as of today. ::: spoiler ITAP Sidebar rules Welcome to /c/ITAP, a place to share any photos you may have taken or seen that you think others would enjoy! It does not need to be OC, it just needs to be a photo that you think is beautiful and worth sharing. Rule 1: No bigotry or discrimination. Rule 2: No photos of politicians or political rallies. Rule 3: Keep it civil. Rule 4: Add OC or Not OC to the title. Rule 5: NSFW posts are allowed provided they’re marked as such. Rule 6: AI generated art isn’t allowed but a low level of digital touching/enhancing is fine Rule 7: You don’t like the name. I don’t care. The community is called the way it is because I decided to do so. It is almost as if the word took could be used in different ways, such as physically taking the image yourself or storing a copy of the image that you found pleasing. If you have a problem with this, feel free to set up your own community. You may not feel free to openly whine and insult the community or the mods simply because you disagree with it. ::: Stamets posts a photo about every day and none of them are his and none are tagged “Not OC”. Invariably, he gets comments like “Wow, gorgeous photo! How did you take that?”. Or “Beautiful! What’s the story behind this [abandoned] boat?” He doesn’t reply to any of them. That last one was a real comment, and after seeing so many of these comments day after day, it triggered me. I finally decided to say something. I wish I could copy my comment, but Lemmy doesn’t let me see it because Stamets removed it. I’ll try to summarise. It was like 3 paragraphs. > Stamets only posts photos he didn’t take. He gets a lot of comments like yours and never replies. I don’t understand why it’s called ITAP. I posted some OC here to try to encourage other people to do the same, but I’m going to delete it and just block the community. Just use c/pics for non-OC, Stamets, and let ITAP be ITAP. Posting non-OC while not saying so in a community called “I took a picture” feels something akin to stolen valor. That was it. I used a lot more words, but that was it. He removed the comment and banned me immediately, saying I was creating unnecessary drama. Then he changed the title to say “not OC”. Heres the post: https://lemmy.world/post/25565845 [https://lemmy.world/post/25565845] Turns out, he made just a post about this: https://lemmy.world/post/25582946 [https://lemmy.world/post/25582946] trying to defend himself and his community’s name. “I made /c/ITAP for myself and by myself.” Well, that’s a really weird reason to make a public internet community. 🤷 I don’t really buy the whole “took” pun thing, but whatever. Am I an asshole for telling him that posting non-OC in ITAP is like stolen valor? Am I really creating unnecessary drama? I’m definitely creating more by posting here! 😂 Oh, it looks like he edited all of his submissions to say “Not OC”. Good! Now I feel like I’ve made a positive change and I don’t feel like an asshole at all. I feel like I took one for the team for making Lemmy a better place. I had seen so many of those kinds of comments praising “his” photos.
