I've discovered the secret of Madrid

@gabrielesvelto ah, interesting. I guess it makes sense, i seem to remember the stability issues being fixed over a fairly long duration and in fact, (checking on wikipedia,) the instability is caused by (permanent) damage / rapid degradation to some particularly vulnerable component, so it would make sense that the older chips have the worst stability (especially those that saw use before the issue was widely reported & mitigations deployed).

(The raptor lake wikipedia article also mentions 14th gen using the same silicon steppings as 13th gen but I wouldn't know if that's relevant here (i.e. if this suggests it's purely an age / mitigations difference))

@cinebox this is "at least" because firefox doesn't support WebHID (or WebUSB, WebSerial) because of security (and privacy) concerns, see: https://mozilla.github.io/standards-positions

I wish there was a way to jump through extra hoops to force enable the functionality for very specific pages, (since they insist that a standard user consent prompt isn't sufficient as 'the average person' would click allow on anything a website tells them to), but oh well.

Mozilla Standards Positions

This page tracks Mozilla's positions on open Web and Web-related specifications submitted to standards bodies like the IETF, W3C, WHATWG, and Ecma TC39.

@gabrielesvelto to be honest i totally forgot which one raptor lake is, but i could tell it's 13000 and 14000 series because of that one chart from warframe showing the top 12 CPUs with a certain driver crash also ALL being from those systems, (over 96% of these crashes, which DID happen on AMD as well, but clearly much less frequently...)
Finally. ffmpreg
@cendyne that is so awesome .
  • ok actually I checked and apparently I forgot to save changes
  • maybe it actually works now
  • I feel bad continuing to mention idk if thats bad so i took it out ..
  • @soatok
    E: I actually just forgot to press the save button and this does work, OOPS

    @soatok i did not know :0

    1. i cant rly think of anything to test
    1. but I always found it quirky that the numbering in markdown numbered bullets (or w/e) was automatic
    1. so maybe I'll try doing all 1s and see if that's here too
