I need a new work laptop. Needs to be able to run VMs and quickly search through a few hundred gigabytes of text files. It can be as large and heavy as necessary and 1440p. Any recommendations?

Besides Mastodon, it seems like the other social media alternatives are competing with each other over who can have the most security issues. I'd love to do cool write-ups on them after they get fixed, but they just refuse to fix or even acknowledge them.

@farewell_ladmin I had the same issue a while back, you'll need to wait a minimum of 2 weeks before it'll let you fix it yourself (phone verification lockout) and support will likely refuse to help.

@apiratemoo You can also hide @ mentions with markdown, so my @everyone post was just mentioning a lot of people. As for syntax highlighting, I don't think there's any default behavior for such a thing.
