#MYFest23 Interesting article on "Slow Lane" change and the importance of creating trust when addressing inequities. https://blogs.lse.ac.uk/impactofsocialsciences/2023/07/11/going-slow-means-changing-the-world-at-the-speed-of-trust/
Going slow means changing the world at the speed of trust

How does change happen in communities that have been persistently marginalised? Drawing on work for his recent book focused on successful movements for social change, Sascha Haselmayer argues again…

Impact of Social Sciences
For my Global Communication course many years ago, the course was structured around a project in which my class broke up into teams and developed an international conference on the classes choice of topic (they chose nanotechnology because at the time our uni had a program in it). Students organized registration, online speakers/presenters, and discussion groups. It was marginally successful but they learned a lot in the process.
My other Master degree was from a specialized uni with a large international and online population. The easiest way to keep in touch in by registering on the alumni site for updates/online discussion forum found on its website.
@harmonygritz @koutropoulos I have 4 different Unis in which I'm a alumni. My International MBA uses multiple platforms but in the end reverted to email, twitter, and linked in to keep in contact. My PhD allows alumni to maintain their university email, but they need to sign up through the alumni office. They also are pretty active on Linked in, twitter, and facebook (the uni had university facebook for our campus before it went public).
@rbreich Thank you for bringing this up. Especially as many of the late boomers, who were the generation that corps took away their pensions, now only have SS to live on. The largest group of homeless in CA according to a new report. Why? Can't afford housing.
@mttaggart Deep learning. But there are many that have trouble making the connections needed for inductive learning.
#Myfest23 3) Can machines think is an old debate. Many say no with EI. But just as important is how emotion is expressed and communicated which differs from culture to culture. Is anyone looking at the role of paralinguistics and AI?
