Tested the waters in 2016... returned in April 2022 with one or two other people. The avatar is an Earth Day photo from a few years ago on my campus. Header image is lifted from my Twitter cover photo.

I'm not as gone from Twitter as I'd like. Active on Bluesky too, @ harmonygritz.bsky.social. You'll find my longtime "rainbow" profile image there.

As much as we're endangered by nation-state leaders turning AI loose, I'm also annoyed* by the thought that campus execs and admins may be relying on AI for their decisions or actions without disclosing that use.

Noting top-level AI misuse one case at a time is like policing for the one student on a class assignment. Doesn't really help or change anything.

*Need a better word here, I admit it

I can't find high enough praise for this article today in The Tyee (on Fedi: @thetyee) https://thetyee.ca/Analysis/2026/03/27/Human-Cost-Failing-Name-COVID-Airborne/

How is it possible for hospitals, nursing homes and other health-care employers to allow respiratory PPE that doesn’t fit the legal standard previously set for protecting workers against an airborne hazard?

Simple. They just fail to explicitly state the virus is airborne.

Unfortunately, the recording doesn't include the Q&A. Two things I remember from that:

So two documentaries about "AI" are coming out this week -- a good one and a bad one. For some info on which is which and why, see:
