Trump administration agrees Pride flag can fly at Stonewall

The Trump administration has agreed to keep flying a rainbow Pride flag on a federal flagpole at the Stonewall National Monument, reversing course after removing the banner in February. The government revealed the decision Monday as it agreed to settle a lawsuit filed by LGBTQ+ and historic preservation groups who had sought to block the removal. A judge approved the agreement. According to court papers, the Interior Department and National Park Service “have confirmed their intention to maintain a Pride flag at Stonewall.” It won’t be removed, except for “maintenance or other practical purposes.”

It has been clear for a long time that #Trump is a person with a disorganized mind & a disordered personality. What the past few months & especially the past few weeks brought into focus is how his pathologies have cascaded downward & outward through his admin. They have become institutionalized. The reason it so often does not act coherently is because it cannot. The world faces something new & baffling & frightening in Trump’s 2nd term: a #PsychoticState.

Opinion | Trump Is Turning America Into a Psychotic State

What are the implications if the government of the world’s most powerful country is chaotic in its thinking and not reliably in touch with reality?

Andrej Karpathy nails the perception gap in AI capabilities that I've mentioned in the past. There is now a huge gap between people who have tried the free version of ChatGPT and say people in Big Tech who have unlimited tokens to use on the latest models to do their day jobs.

It's essentially a night and day difference which is why it seems like we're talking past each other a lot in these discussions.

As much as we're endangered by nation-state leaders turning AI loose, I'm also annoyed* by the thought that campus execs and admins may be relying on AI for their decisions or actions without disclosing that use.

Noting top-level AI misuse one case at a time is like policing for the one student on a class assignment. Doesn't really help or change anything.
