It is a long-standing tradition for Microsoft to use a runtime copy of Windows as a part of Windows Setup. But the copy is so stripped-down, it cannot run anything but the setup program (winsetup.bin).
OR IS IT?
A mini-challenge for myself: create a semi-working desktop only based on runtime Windows 3.10 shipped with Windows 95 installer but not using any other Microsoft products.

Ok, here's my advice on switching to Linux from Windows, Yoda style. Don't use a live CD or a dual-boot setup. You were never gonna use it like that, anyway.
Delete Windows and really force yourself to use Linux for at least 2 weeks. That way, you'll know wether it's for you. There is no try. Do, or do not.
After this time, you can be sure, that you gave it a real chance. Which distro? What if I told you, it doesn't really matter? Start with one of the easy ones like Fedora, Ubuntu or Mint.
In light of the Oblivion remaster, I was discussing different leveling mechanics of The Elder Scrolls series with ChatGPT and I'm not sure, if the results are accurate, as LLMs aren't that great with numbers, but that "punishing casual play" property seems very plausible to me...
