I am 100% not shitting you when I say scientists named mastodons after their teeth which they thought looked like nipples. “Mastos” as in breast. “odont” as in tooth.

The radio on my new car is voice controlled. So there I was this morning, driving back from the supermarket when Mistletoe and Wine by Cliff Richard came on. No problem: ‘play classic fm’ ‘I’m sorry I didn’t get that’ hmmm. ‘Play radio 4’ enunciated slowly and precisely. ‘please try again, I don’t understand you’ ugh. ‘Play scala radio’ shouted slowly and precisely. ‘please speak more loudly and clearly.’ This went on for the whole song. My new car is red. I shall be calling her Christine.

@merz not matter what I do, my primary claim to fame is that when I was 21 I was briefly knocked out by the tech who discovered clavulanic acid when he tickled me from behind while I was standing in a doorway. I’m six three tall and there wasn’t much headroom when I leapt skywards.😂

A bit of #cellbiology history. I was going through a box of inherited column hardware and found this, which would have been used in the Glomset lab as they were discovering and characterizing prenylation of #Rab #GTPases in the early 1990s.
