A traditional artist (B.F.A) who lives by the ocean with a very grumpy rabbit and a few sad house plants. They/them/she/her.
I got a bit heavy handed with the toad painting and messed it up. Watercolor is hard. Before I decided to teach myself how to paint, I only used color to compliment a drawing (like the pieces below). Solid backgrounds and bits of pattern, are much easier! I'm wondering if I should just go back to that, because I'm struggling so much. I just wanted to branch out a bit more and not limit myself.
Toad is pretty much done. Now I have to figure out how I'm going to paint the background.
This watercolor is at the not so pretty stage and the blue drawing gum isn't helping!
