Vintage computer enthusiast, podcaster, and bag of mostly water.
@kirkman That’s the thing. I think it *is* a great state that’s an important contributor to the U.S. But also some real nutbars. It’s a shame. Maybe it’ll get better.
And oh my gosh, I had assumed the TV was on Fox. Nope, that was actually CBS. Fox is … well, you can imagine. Crazy state is crazy.
Arrived at hotel in Missouri. Turned on TV. Ad for drugs. Ad for drugs. Political ad literally saying “I will round up immigrants.” Ad for drugs. Ad for injury lawyer. Ad for drugs. Political ad literally saying “I won’t use any ‘woke pronouns’” and “when they call me racist that’s how I’ll know I’m doing it right”. Holy crap it’s like a parody.

Two things! 1) My #nanogenmo entry is done. Fifi's Big Adventure is a HTML-based choose-your-own adventure book that has puzzles and inventory, written entirely by #chatgpt https://github.com/NaNoGenMo/2023/issues/6

2) @Carrington and I recorded a new episode of the #EatenByAGrue podcast! We talk about Fifi's Big Adventure and his lack of furniture. https://monsterfeet.com/grue/notes/55

@AverseABFun @savetz It didn’t take that long once I sat down and focussed on it. Had to restart because the copy I was using had a bug, but otherwise I knocked it out in a few sessions. It’s super old school, but not nearly the size nor scope of an Infocom game.
@AstiStewart I was introduced to cricket when I went to uni in England, but didn’t really get into it back then. It wasn’t until I recently discovered the faster/shorter t20 version that I got completely hooked. Now it’s the only sport I watch aside from hockey (which is obligatory for us Canucks).
I know my Mastodon pals are mostly computer nerds not sports nerds, but still: today’s RCB vs LSG cricket match was *amazing*. What a nail biter. The Indian Premier League is the best thing in sports. #cricket #t20
@mattinx Ha, that “choose your own label” idea is fantastic!
When I promised to release the source code for my #interactivefiction game Dorm on April 1 (“Source Code Amnesty Day”) I really thought I’d have time to clean it up and make it less embarrassing first. But nope. Oh well, a deal’s a deal. The #sourcecode in all it’s raw unedited glory is now available at IFDB: https://ifdb.org/viewgame?id=hudzdw715cypkx13 #inform6 #PunyInform
Dorm: Adventure at the 8-Bit Assembly

PLOT You’ve heard about the 8-Bit Assembly for ages: a retro Apple II computer convention where attendees stay in a university dorm along with fellow vintage computer nerds. You’ve been looking forward to it all year, and you plan to participate in everything the event has to offer. You’ll compete in silly contests, brave dubious cafeteria food and sweltering Midwest heat, and try to find a boxed copy of your favourite Infocom game. You're excited, but a bit nervous too. Rumours fly about dark magic and bizarre occurrences, not helped by the black robed figures you keep spotting around campus. Are those professors, or something more nefarious? Meanwhile, an angry throng of Commodore protestors is amassing at the front gate, and an unhinged Macintosh pirate is menacing the quad in a Bondi blue Volkswagen Beetle. Will you find a copy of Wishbringer to add to your collection, or will the campus literally come alive and start eating attendees? And did that massive statue of a bull over by the bleachers just blink?? Uh oh. NOTES This is the author's first game. It was developed in Inform 6 using PunyInform. The fictional 8-Bit Assembly is based on KansasFest, a real-world Apple II retro-computer convention.

@AstiStewart There was no other option. Obvs I would rather use Authy etc., but the idea that there’s literally no 2fa available if I don’t pay for a vanity checkmark is galling (or would be if I still wanted to use Twitter).
