Alaskan. AKpolitics, weather, Insulin4All, teach reading, Public Schools!!, glaciers, neurodiversity, books!, Sjogren’s, MedicareForAll.
This is, of course, total gibberish. The US gets no #water from Canada (other than some natural flows in the shared Columbia River) and Trump's had zero influence on that.
Also, we only measure three things in "barrels:" oil, laughs, and monkeys. Not water.
Incredibly high precipitation totals over most of mainland Alaska for January 2025. In ERA5 reanalysis, over 40 percent (!!) of Alaska had the highest January precipitation since 1950. Prior to that, only January 1937 is comparable. #akwx #Climate @Climatologist49
This DOGE Engineer Has Access to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Sources tell WIRED that NOAA employees were ordered to give an engineer from Elon Musk’s DOGE task force access to all of the agency’s Google sites by the end of business on Wednesday.

If cleared roadways, power line easements, section line easements, trail clearings, or similar linear “trenches” in terrain are aligned with local winds they can focus winds and become a pathway for fire ignitions. https://www.frames.gov/catalog/11631 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trench_effect?wprov=sfti1#
The trench effect and eruptive wildfires: lessons from the King's Cross Underground disaster | Fire Research and Management Exchange System

Fire eruption (also known as blow-up or flare-up) is a very dangerous aspect of wildland fire behaviour. It poses a significant threat to the safety of wildland fire-fighters and complicates the broader problem of wildfire risk management in complex terrain. Despite the seriousness of eruptive fire events, operational wildland fire spread models generally do not account for the possibility of these events occurring and there is little in the literature devoted to obtaining a model that consistently describes the phenomenon.

Members reportedly sought access to IT systems at agency that Project 2025 has called ‘harmful to US prosperity’

Alaska 2024 average temperature was typical for recent years in NOAA/NCEI data. Since 1925, this was the 16th warmest year, but all but five of the warmer years have occurred since 2002. @Climatologist49

Fairbanks Airport at 8am AKST Sunday 41F (+5.0C). This is a new record high temperature for January 12, breaking the previous record of 39F (+3.9C) in 1984. January record is 52F (11.1C) set in 2009. #akwx #Climate @Climatologist49 @CarrieinFbx @anisian
For me, today is the first important marker in the return of the sun. Sunset in Fairbanks is after 300pm for the first time since the end of November. The next marker is around January 20, when the sun will be high enough in the sky for a period of “white light”, around solar noon, as opposed to the continuous sunrise/sunset orange that we have now. #akwx @anisian @mivox
