Right.
Transphobic asshats have got a petition to repeal the GRA to over 10,000 signatures. Fuck that. Let's get this one higher:
@the_gneech @tilton @Kyyanno @huskyteer @cstross
On an individual level, I've seen a lot of anger and disgust towards the US government. I'd certainly expect a noticeable fall in tourists and supporting US brands/products.
I've not seen organised protests, boycott or the like though. And politically anything beyond a few week comments would require Keir Starmer to have a spine, something he's never shown any sign of in his political career.
I suspect the way it will go is a lot of empty waffling twaddle because Politicians here are so absolutely terrified of Nigel Farage and his anti EU nutters they won't dare make any meaningful moves in that direction, and in the absence of being willing to deal meaningfully with our largest trade partners, they're dependent on whatever crumbs they can get from the US.
@Raelis @CanisRufus Here is the new link, someone opened a new issue saying "clarification" wasn't good enough:
Twitch are updating their rules & decided that LGBTQ+ is a "Sensitive social issue" & needs to be hidden behind a content warning.
Obviously this is bad for LGBTQ+ streamers & a slippery slope, so please if you're a twitch user, vote on this feedback petition:
There's a lot more I could have written about this but... look we've all seen this a million times before, we know how it works, how bad actors abuse it to mass report and bully and where it all goes.
In light of the Internet Archive losing its appeal to hachette, I just wanted to point out some websites you should avoid:
* https://annas-archive.li/
* https://downmagaz.net/
* https://ebook-hunter.org/
* https://forcoder.net/
* https://freemagazines.top/
* https://liber3.eth.limo/
If you were to download books from these websites, you might cut into hachette's more than three billion dollars of annual revenue. So make sure to avoid those websites and the following:
* https://libgen.is/
* https://oceanofpdf.com/
* https://pdfroom.com/
* https://pdfstop.com/
* https://pdfdrive.to/
* https://pdfmagazines.club/
* https://sci-hub.se/
* https://singlelogin.re/
* ... or any of the other sites listed at https://rentry.co/megathread-books
Still not sure what to say but going to try and put something together anyway. Rest In Peace Dragoneer.
The impact you had on the fandom and the legacy you leave is gigantic.
It's no exaggeration to say that Furaffinity is one of the pillars around which the current fandom built its self in the internet era. No site is perfect but it gave and still gives the fandoms creative a place to post thier work, connect with and grow thier audiences, to make a living.
So many people I know I met through it, communities formed through it, so many peopple discovered the fandom, conventions, friends through it.
I only met you once, many years ago, but I remember the friendly enthusiasm you spoke with.
Thank you.
4 hours ago Dragoneer died.
He died struggling against the US health care system that viewed him as a nuisance. He was actively denied the help he needed. Help that could have meant he'd be alive now.
You can see his struggle here: https://bsky.app/profile/boringkeith.bsky.social/post/3kz3ydmc3jk2s
In mourning, we owe it to him to share his story, and do whatever we can to make sure this never happens again.
At the very least, make sure that people pay attention.
