This is not restricted to Ballarat - the same thing happened when I lived in QLD. I've put it down to Australian drivers not being able to use their initiative and needing clear STOP-GO signals.
Driving through Ballarat thinking "This traffic light junction could have been a roundabout" and in the case of Learmonth St actually was a roundabout until they decided to inexplicably replace it with lights because people weren't pointlessly waiting enough, I suppose.

How to be An Genius:

1. Pay $44bn for a site worth 1/2 that
2. Sack everyone who knows how it works
3. Release far-right troll army
4. Turn genuine validation into a badge of idiocy
5. Kill most of your ad revenue
6. Inflate API price to recoup money
7. Everyone stops using API and scrapes site instead
8. Massively limit the service to end scraping
9. Service is now unusable
10. Remaining advertising value destroyed
11. Kill a cornerstone of the internet
12. Lose $44bn

The psychology of grief: Why losing a pet dog or cat is like losing a family member

Several studies have found that the bereavement of a pet can be just as traumatic as the bereavement of a human family member.

If, like me, you're utterly confused by the 'Advanced Web Interface' option in Mastodon that claims to 'use the full screen width' and then blatently doesn't, looks like the influx of users may have spurred someone to fix the issue, looking at the Mastodon Github.

It looks like someone has (arbitrarily) set a column max width of 600px, which is a bit disappointing (that's less than a third of the width of a 1920px screen). Will have to see what this looks like.

The cats coming to check that their food source isn't dying is somewhat heartwarming, although I guess if I'd died I *would* be the food source.
I will have to do some tweaking. Increasing the font size (which I have to do because I have crap eyesight) means I only get about five words per column. Being able to adjust column sizes would be great.
