In the #cannabis industry, extract companies trying to cut corners will process low-quality material into hash oil then pass it through a Color Remediation Column, or "CRC", to improve visual appearance. Oils made this way have a reliably poor flavor and can contain potentially-carcinogenic clay dust (which is not tested for by the CA Dept of Cannabis Control).

We're here to call out companies which use CRC, and praise those who refuse to use CRC. NOTHING FOR SALE, NO PAID PROMOS, EVER!!!

Good morning #cannabis friends!

We have a new update to the CRC Watch List:

🟢 Himalaya is the first company I have personally seen to put a "NO CRC" indicator directly on their packaging. The quality of the product leads me to believe they are being honest about this.

Cudos to Himalaya for leading the charge for authentic extract artists to distinguish themselves from corporate chads!

(3/3) I am going to operate under the assumption that WCC is comfortable lying to me, like they lie to customers by saying their products are safe and tested, until they start providing tests demonstrating the absence of clay dust or give me a full tour of their extraction facility.

If they're going to use dirty practices, they may at least want to educate their PR guy enough about those practices so he can lie competently. Good luck lying to lab tests though, doesn't seem to be going well!

* Their rep told me they never "add CRC or Vitamin E" - indicating he has no idea what CRC is, as it's not an additive, which in turn indicates he probably has no idea what he's talking about - and,
* LA Times exposed all tested WCC products as dirty,
* I am reliably able to taste & smell CRC'd concentrates, and found WCC to be among the most egregious offenders of obvious CRC usage,

(1/3) In the spirit of full disclosure, I'd like to note that #WestCoastCure #cannabis company conveyed to me that they do not use CRC in their products.

Ordinarily, that would be adequate to remove a company from my CRC Watchlist, or at least put them in a more favorable grade.

But I straight-up do not believe WCC, and thus, will not be moving their name to any category but the red.

Many of you have probably already seen this, but an article which published today exposed a variety of #California companies, including West Coast Cure and Stiiizy, as selling products which exceed the legal limits of pesticides.

That's what they can get away with even though they test for pesticide. Imagine how much potentially-carcinogenic clay dust they're putting in your #cannabis?

We have a new update to the CRC Watch List:

🔴 Over the course of 2 months, West Coast Cure ignored multiple messages asking if they use CRC.

A sample purchase from this brand was actually what inspired this CRC Watchlist. It was terrible & harsh, tasted strongly of that almost-minty characteristic CRC clay taste, and triggered asthmatic symptoms in an individual who dabs other brands every day without issue.

We recommend against WCC.

Good morning #cannabis friends!

We have a new addition to the CRC Watch List:

🔴 Punch Extracts outsources their BHO, and cannot guarantee that it isn't put through a CRC.

A sample purchase was not as egregious in its clay-dust taste as some CRC brands. It did have a faint taste to suggest it is most likely put through a CRC. Combined with the lack of any other flavors - something indicative of CRC - we recommend against Punch BHO.

Their rosin is amazing though!

We have a new addition to the CRC Watch List:

🟢 Humboldt Terp Council confirmed they "do not, have not, will not" use CRC.

Extra points for being able to contact them right here on Mastodon too! It was the co-founder's personal account, so I won't tag it here. But nonetheless - thank you very much to Humboldt Terp Council for always producing quality dabs, and not deceiving dabbers.
