I have been keeping blinds and curtains closed to try to stop the house heating up quite so much (an Edwardian end terrace) and yesterday it definitely improved things. I just came downstairs to find that my husband has decided that his day off should be one full of daylight and they're all open. I would mind less if I hadn't had a conversation with him about it yesterday. Anyway, they're shut now.

A month or so ago my uncle died. He was single and 200 miles from family and 80 yrs old. No one found him for a week until neighbours alerted authorities that he hadn't been seen in a while. Funeral today and flat clearing by my parents, brother and my husband (I'm at home with the kids). Despite the flat being secured some fucker has stolen all his watches - a small but fairly expensive collection. When then? When he was lying dead on the bed? People are foul.

I am watching Moana 2 with my son - I am not enjoying it.

It's really bloody windy (and rainy) but some stupid arsehole is determined to set off fireworks.

For some completely unfathomable reason my mother insisted on getting me a bottle of Jack Daniels for Christmas despite my father's protests. I've never tried it, I drink single malt for preference, so I thought I'd better try it before relegating it to the cupboard never to be seen again. It's utterly foul, even with cola. There is not enough cola in the world to make it tolerable. Cupboard it is then.

My rain gauge says we've had nearly 450mm of rain since Friday night so...a bit damp.
