They did that “person collided with car and died” thing, but in the ocean.

No, the whale didn’t collide with a boat. A person driving a boat hit a whale and killed it.

Whale dies after collision with small boat off New Jersey shore

A minke whale has died off the New Jersey shore after colliding with a small boat. The incident occurred Saturday in Barnegat Bay and the impact nearly tipped the boat and threw a person overboard. Video shows the whale splashing near the craft before swimming away. The whale was later found dead on a sandbar in shallow water. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center said authorities couldn't approach due to tidal conditions. A necropsy is planned for Monday.

@mark This is an ethically dubious proposition. Whether or not a site owner or other creators of content on a site want remuneration or credit or not, should be entirely up to them. For Big Tech to simply TAKE their content without providing an easy way for users who see answers based on that content to know WHERE that information came from, is wholly and deeply unethical.

I know it's tempting to look at all the people leaving MAGA and say to yourself "good for them, look at how they've changed". But they haven't.

Listen to me. They haven't changed.

If you go to a restaurant on Monday and they have shitty food, and you go to that same restaurant on Tuesday and they have shitty food, and you go to that restaurant again on Wednesday and they have shitty food, and you go to that restaurant on Thursday and they have shitty food, and you go to that restaurant on Friday and they're CLOSED, that restaurant didn't do an about face and suddenly figure out how to cook and serve good food. That restaurant suffered the consequences of serving shitty food over and over every day of the week.

This is what MAGA is going through right now. They made shitty decisions over and over and over every single day for the better part of four decades. And now, the consequences of those shitty decisions means government agencies are going away, subsidies are being defunded, and relief and aid programs are being denied. All while costs are rising with tariffs and job markets are is deflating.

THAT'S what they're leaving. They're trying to leave behind the consequences of their actions, not the shitty decisions that lead to them.

Friday design spice: in the Apple HIG, whoever made this diagram for visionOS button states must surely have said “eh… are we _sure_ about this?”. #contrast

That's fair.

Love the flop-sweat smell, ICE!

She's asking the right questions. Sadly, slavery IS a staffing issue. It's quite popular on farms. And it's not caused by "hiring illegals."

The US's biggest modern slavery case was 100% workers who came legally.

I'm an American & former farm worker. Let's talk!

Rep. Greenfield is asking exactly the right questions.

If the US is going to feed itself, there are farm jobs that have to be done. So how are we gonna do it?

No, really! How?

Who's going to do the work? What will their lives be like?

The folks in charge of the US right now DO NOT want people asking asking these questions. Because they just low key made slavery great again.

They're desperate to turn it around.

That's why if you dare to ask "Who will pick the crops?" the folks who just re-legalized slavery… call you pro-crime.
