(Pink Maxi is a series of one-off features that don’t quite fit into a regular issue of Pink Mince.)
It took a couple of battles with my Risograph to get to the finish line, but I’ve published a new issue of Pink Maxi — AA Bronson at Home https://www.pinkmince.com/2025/07/pink-maxi-3.html
About 11 years ago I worked on a custom project to design Ryman Eco, an ink-saving typeface (available for free, admittedly as a promotional stunt), and I love seeing how often it pops up. Recently, I learned that a company in Romania was making wood type from it, which is such a cool way for a the idea to swing back around to me.

We are proud that Kyle Letendre is an emcee for #TypeCon2025! Don‘t miss them on stage and register for TypeCon today.

Kyle is a freelance lettering artist, illustrator and type designer based in Portland, Oregon. Like a rhinestoned Swiss Army Knife, their work blurs the lines between type and image, attracting collaborations with clients such as Target, Penguin Random House, Mercedes-Benz, New Belgium Beer, Instagram, Sports Illustrated, and YouTube.

If you’ll be in Portland for @typecon next month, I wholeheartedly encourage you to stop by this show of type and lettering work organized by my pal and tattoo artist, Travis Wheeler (who drew this promo and all its lettering).

Oh no! Saw the news this morning that Berlin’s magical Buchstabenmuseum is closing this October, after 20 years of efforts to keep its doors (in various sites) open. They are currently trying to find long-term storage for their incredible collection of signage remnants.

BUCHSTABENMUSEUM - Buchstäblich Berlin

Das Buchstabenmuseum ist das erste Museum weltweit, das Typografie aus dem öffentlichen Raum sammelt und als Teil der Stadtgeschichte präsentiert.

Aldo Novarese’s Stop lends itself to being customized. In 2008, @verbosus started a Flickr group dedicated to in-use examples of the display #typeface in which the letters have been customized: https://www.flickr.com/groups/customstop/

#FontsInUse has a growing collection of #CustomStop as well.
The latest addition is a sticker for The Pachinko Factory, contributed by @splorp: “The customization […] is delightful … especially the scattering of little #pachinko balls as design elements.” https://fontsinuse.com/uses/69205/the-pachinko-factory

@FontsInUse @splorp I gave two talks about Stop so far: one in Milwaukee in 2012 about customization and another in Torino in 2021 about its origin. There’s an article extracted from the latter in the Nebiolo History Project’s publication. I have material for (much!) more, but at this pace I’ll give the third talk in 2030!
