Plans for over the summer?
For children in care, the summer holidays may not offer the same opportunity to create happy memories.
My #intandem fund colleagues launched a Crowdfunder at the start of June to make summer more memorable for children in care. They have currently raised almost £8,000 of their £10,000 target, with my employer doubling every donation.
#intandem is Scotland’s national mentoring programme for children aged 8 – 14 and in care - either living at home (under a compulsory supervision order) or with extended family (kinship care).
All money raised will allow Scottish children in care to do something special during the summer holidays - like visiting a zoo or theme park.

Helen CzerskiThe ocean is full of connections, and here's another one. The idea that whale poo helps redistribute the critical nutrient iron in iron-poor seas has been around for a while, but now it looks as though the penguins are at it too.
What’s important is that when species suffer population decreases, it’s not just about losing charasmatic animals - it’s about breaking the links in the ocean systems for recycling and energy distribution.

Adam CookI can see, right now from the Transit app, that tomorrow's bus service will have similar issues.
I hope that the powers that be at the #Mackinac Policy Conference put regional transit in their Thinking Caps because if you want to talk about a top population and economic vibrancy killer... this is it.
Bus service **needs** to be complemented by intracity and regional #rail for a population center this size (and one in which we hope to grow).
No other way to do it.
