Welsh hotel owners cycling 423km to send young dancers to Patagonia

Two Welsh hotel owners have taken on a cycling marathon challenge to raise money to pay for dancers from a small primary school to visit Patagonia. Tony and Donna Cooper-Barney, owners of five star Palé Hall at Llandderfel, near Bala, set off on Saturday on a 423-kilometre ride from Cannes in France to Pisa in […]

Still much anger online about the attack on the Freedom Flotilla, a civilian unarmed ship attacked by drones while headed towards #Gaza, that Greta #Thunberg was in the process of boarding when the attack took place…but no official condemnation.#Israel has refused to comment and so the mainstream media goes silent and moves on.

Here's a depressing little election factoid.

Six of the seven Reform candidates in Doncaster, who Hope Not Hate exposed for making white nationalist posts on social media, have been elected.

The only one who didn't make the cut was Isaiah-John Reasbeck, due to Labour securing one of the two seats in his ward.

Crab Museum comes out swinging for trans people after Supreme Court ruling: ‘Not how biology works’

A crab museum has made arguably one of the most powerful statements on the UK's Supreme Court ruling over the definition of a woman.

Labour's anti-protest intentions were again on show, even as they lost an appeal against the striking down of some of Suella Braverman's anti-protest laws. As Liberty note, while this is a small victory for freedom to protest, the current Govt. continues to follow the previous Govt's lead in try to curtail & limit political protest.

This is not news to anyone but as Labour continues to lose support, one might wonder whether for some this might be important?

Here's a great analysis of the Runcorn by-election from @CherylMorgan which seeks to correct various misapprehensions about why Reform won, whose votes they gained, and why Labour (and the media) are drawing the wrong conclusions.

And its admirably concise for a busy Saturday morning.

So, Reform has won the Runcorn and Helsby by-election. Judging by what I am seeing in the news and on social media, this is a major defeat for Labour whose voters, we are told, are deserting the party en masse for Reform. The lesson for Labour is apparently clear: they need to double-down on their

I just love May. The woods are so pretty, bursting with fresh green leaves, carpeted with wildflowers, and a cacophony of birdsong. #FootpathFriday
@helenclayton Oh, yes, yes! 🥰🌼🌞💚

@helenclayton You wanted to say "calophony"? 😉 (greek kalos = beautiful, good)

I love these different greens in May.

@NatureMC ooh that’s a good word. It was a lovely cacophony though.
@helenclayton 👋 😊
You decided to go for a yomp after all then?
@fkamiah17 no just a stroll round the block to get eggs 😊. Are you home yet?
@helenclayton Almost. Amazingly, neither train was cancelled or late! I'll be back home around 3. Excited to see what's gone on in the garden while I was away 🌼
Have you been to see the sheeps? 😊
I'll drop you the next instalment of Andor when I get back.

@fkamiah17 hurrah for trains being on time!

I’ve not been to see the sheeps today although they were in the field next to the house earlier. I have to crack on with the garden but I’m faffing. Made croque monsieur for lunch and now I’m making crème pat for a flan. Having a French moment.

No rush on Andor. I’m still watching season 1! Are you all caught up?

@helenclayton Oooh, fancy! Theoretically I could get on with some gardening now (I'm home!) but that's highly unlikely. Tomorrow morning's going to be a whirlwind of activity, but this arvo is definitely slumping and waiting for the Thai place to open 🤣
I powered right through about eight episodes last week! Yes, I'm all caught up. I've been collecting the new Handmaid's Tale for you too 😊

@fkamiah17 I should have stuck to the patisserie. I’ve cut myself with secateurs while thinning the peach crop. I hate thinning stuff as it is but now I’ll be mildly traumatised as well. Might do something less dangerous.

Slumping sounds good 😊. Ooh handmaid’s tale 😊. It’ll be like watching a docudrama.

@helenclayton Aww shit. Gardening injuries are a bastard. Is it a bad one? I hope you're not bleeding into the cakes 😬
I did have a quick wander around, noting the many things that need doing without actually doing any of them 🤣
Took some photos though!
I'll drop you HT as well then. I don't think I can handle it just now. I've not even looked at the news yet. I might wait until after the weekend for that.
You definitely deserve a cuppa and a biscuit 🥰

@fkamiah17 all fingers and thumbs accounted for!

I’m sure the garden looks blooming lovely. Avoid the news at all costs. 🥰

@helenclayton Still, finger injuries are nasty. They seem to hurt more than they have any right to as well!
Lots of signs of germination from the eleventy billion seeds 🥳
Just a few pics from the protests yesterday and that's it until Tuesday. Reality avoidance is addictive 😁
@helenclayton @fkamiah17 oh no! sending healing and sealing to whatever element of you has had its structural integrity compromised. (i don't know why i'm talking like this but) i hope you feel better very, very soon and that it isn't serious.

@moonrabbit @fkamiah17 ‘twas my finger. The RHS says to cut the excess peaches in half rather than pulling them off so you damage the tree. I wasn’t convinced but gave it a go. My finger was much the same firmness as an unripe peach it seems. Only a flesh wound. I have applied a sticky plaster…and gin.

How goes it there?

@helenclayton
The gin should deal with any infections. 😉

@moonrabbit @fkamiah17

@Maker_of_Things @moonrabbit @fkamiah17 that was my thinking too. Having wine now to make double sure.

@helenclayton @moonrabbit @fkamiah17
A long time ago, when I couldn't afford to go to a dentist, I would deal with toothache with a whiskey mouth wash!

In hindsight I can't believe that swigging and gargling with 10 year old whiskey was cheaper than the dentist! 🤦‍♀️

@helenclayton @fkamiah17 oh ow. i'm glad you're ok though. unless it's just a flesh wound in the monty python sense, in which case

here it ... goes.

@moonrabbit @fkamiah17 lol I still have all my digits and limbs so not in the Monty Python sense.
