Granny, happy wife, dog & cat lover, lefty democracy-loving political junkie, reader. I bug my family with questions.
This article discusses an academic named Paul Goodman. His 1960 book chillingly predicted the woes of monoculture & monopoly of now. He quotes from one paragraph in GROWING UP ABSURD.
A Chilling Paragraph from 1960

Sometimes people really can predict the future

The Honest Broker
@Kindheart I go for days at a time without checking Mastodon. I was active on the Bird until Voldemort ruined it and I left. This format seems too random. I dip in and out. YOU start posting interesting stuff and draw me in!
@Voice99 strange murder weapon. My great grandmother was defenestrated during a pogrom in her shtetl in the Russian Empire in the 1890s. She posed no threat to the czar other than her existence as a Jew.
@athelas1001 BTW, I go dark at 10pm ET. Time to read before sleep. đź’¤
@athelas1001 No. I needed to look in the right place. I hope I can remember next time! Each server is different. Mine doesn’t have a large number of accounts. I’m happy here, but I keep doing Twitter brain stuff; and I must overcome and learn new ways.
@athelas1001 I figured it out and now you’re following me. One small step…
@athelas1001 I’m following you now. I think you tried to follow back. If so, I can’t find it! Still learning here. Try again?
@KingShawn If you’re on an iPhone, try using Safari instead of any app. Just type the name of your Mastodon account. That’s it’s URL. You’ll be on your account without needing to login. You can configure columns and feeds. Can’t do everything (I haven’t figured it out). I go back and forth, app to Safari to desktop computer. I agree it’s clunky. But I don’t miss the mess I left behind.
@davey We would absolutely fail at fostering. Once a pet entered our home, we’d love it and and the dear creature would forever be ours.
