I am a Blind Cheese Head who is an avid Tech Geek. I am always looking for the unique perspective on llife.
@macrumors So, does this mean my iPad can now legally drive a car?
@technocounselor @DavidGoldfield @Mitmee_Pie @robini71 I work from home and so can get away with a dress shirt on the top and sweatpants on the bottom. My worst fear in life, one of these days, while on a video call, someone is going to ask me to stand up or I'm going to stand and forget the camera is on.
I named my horse Mayo.
Mayo neighs.
I've ranted about this before, but it is really annoying me today. Blind people who think they can do everything with Siri and don't take the time or energy needed to learn Voiceover. I just had someone ask me how they can download books on BARD using Siri. Really? Learn to use the basic Voiceover gestures and this task is really straight forward. I understand some people have other dextarity issues and can't perform the gestures, but most of these blinks are just lazy and just want to yell at there phone like it is there slave. Come on, take the time to get you some knowledge and stop being lazy!
@lerven Yeah, picture a blind guy going on a first date wearing the current iteration of smart glasses. During there initial conversation, "Hey meta, describe what my date is wearing!" Ummm, how awkward would that be?
Ok, so far this morning I have received an inaccessible document from a company which sells screen readers and screen magnification for people who are blind and an email which just had a picture of text from a center for individuals with disabilities. Why is it that accessibility best practices are such a difficult concept from companies and organizations who, supposedly, serve individuals who are blind? If these folks won't make stuff accessible, why should mainstream companies go to the effort. Frustrating is an under statement! OK, Monday morning rant over.
At the end of September, AOL will officially discontinue dial up internet access! The bigger question, how many people are still using this outdated technology?
@doubletap So, on your show today, you mentioned the YouTube translation service which automatically translates audio in to the proper language. My question, do they have a mode which would translate your show into American English? Would love a full doubletap episode with you two using American accents! :)
@CarrieOnA11y RIM is awesome! I use it on a frequent basis for work. Really easy to use an works on both Windows and Mac.
Thanks to all who posted convention details and descriptions of their experiences from #ACB2025 I haven't been to an ACB Convention in a number of years and I really missed being in Dallas this year. Attending virtually was good, just not quite the same as being there. For those who were at the banquet, did you know ACB Media broadcast like thirty minutes of you guys eating? That was pretty funny audio to listen to. Someone said something about short ribs, sounded delicious! Anyhow, hope everyone had an awesome convention week and I hope to be in St. Louis next year. #ACB25 #ACB2025
