I'm a late-career physicist, currently working on cosmic ray muon tomography. My blessing and my curse is that I'm interested in most everything.

I'm deeply concerned about global warming and the environment.

@techlifeweb I'm still puzzled, but I know very little on what tools are available for IFR landings. The pilot was way too low for being that far from the airport. The power lines are marked as an obstruction at 554 feet. He came through at 500 feet. Montgomery Gibbs airfield is 427 feet.

The power lines that the plane hit are at the end of a daily canyon hike I do. The plane didn't even hit the highest pylon. He was far too low. It's so sad.

@techlifeweb I just checked. My NVDA stock has a dividend yield of 0.0358% and paid me a total of $2.00.

I can get the first round.

"I know that we humans will pack-bond with literally any inanimate object..."

Love it! 😆

@greyduck That's when I mindlessly scroll FB.

On my canyon hike yesterday I saw my first bobcat in the wild.

At first I thought I'd only got it's tail in the shot, which is to the right and bottom of the pic, just over the water. But then a friend said "Wait! Is that an eye?" It's to the left of the shot, roughly center in the vertical direction.

Once you see it, the rest of the details of the bobcat slowly fill in.

I can't remember who first posted a link to this, but I just happened on it again and it still has me chuckling.

Really interesting article on projected future for green hydrogen, vs alternatives such as increased electrification and biomass methane.

Green hydrogen will probably stay too expensive to be competitive, according to the article.

RMI Has Fallen Into The Hydrogen For Energy Pit Again - CleanTechnica

Hydrogen is an industrial feedstock with annual green house gas emissions in the scale of all of aviation globally, one to 1.5 billion tons of CO2e.
