“We need a solid idea of not only the benefits of our interventions but also the harm we may cause—the second and subsequent order consequences.  Otherwise, how will we know when, despite our best intentions, we cause more harm than we do good?”

Iatrogenics: Why Intervention Often Leads to Worse Outcomes

Iatrogenics is when we cause more harm by intervention than we do good. interventionistas do because they 1) are unable to think through problems, 2) are separated from the outcomes, 3) are biased for action, and 4) have asymmetric upside.

@ChrisLawley I wish content warnings and spoilers could be two separate things because I can view insensitive media but I don’t wanna see spoilers 🙃 I’ve already played TLOU though
@stroughtonsmith I built @[email protected] for browsing the public details about Mastodon servers. You can drop any Mastodon domain in and see things like what domains they’ve blocked, what custom emoji they offer and what their registration policy is. It was my first solo iOS project and it just launched a month ago today! #showcase
🎙️ It's been a while since I did one of these, so let's go — reply and show me what you've been working on lately! Include a screenshot, link-out, and use the hashtag #showcase if you'd like to be boosted — assume the reader knows nothing about you or your projects. Remember you can edit posts if you forget something, and mute the hashtag for a period if you don't want to participate

@viticci I love fiber internet. I have fiber but a lower speed (200mbps). I also sell fiber as part of my job and it’s WILD to me the people who turn down fiber in favor of a cable internet
@mdotblind this may be a dumb question but… why not just subscribe to who you want then just check your YouTube subscriptions? Seems like an extra step for every single channel to throw it into rss when there’s already a subscriptions tab
@crankywarlock it’s sooooo nice and buttery smooth so far. I upgraded from a late 2016 MacBook Pro so it was a huge upgrade. I have an m1 iPad Air (5th generation - 2022) and it ran so much better than my MacBook so I had high hopes. Definitely not let down. Everything immediately opens on the Mac mini and doesn’t lag
