People say that #Mastodon ⭐️ s are purely to express appreciation, but that’s not quite true! The search function will do full-text search across posts you’ve favourited, so ⭐️s also create a searchable archive.

EDIT 12/18: alas, as many comments have pointed out, this only works if your instance mods enable the feature, and it's computationally expensive so some don't

Contrary to popular belief, the highest award in journalism isn’t the Pulitzer. It’s being suspended from #Twitter
Ironically, the Great Banning is the first time that Mastodon has felt like it's fulfilling the role for me that Twitter once did—a place to keep up-to-date on a fast-moving event, where everyone is talking about the same thing

This is wild. This is just a short list of prominent journalists suspended from Twitter for the “crime” of being critical of Mu$k. They didn’t promote violence, misinformation, or any form of hate. They simply were critical of his policies. And for their simple criticism—they got suspended.

This is your so-called free speech champion who will save humanity. 🙄

Stop trusting billionaires. Start taxing them.

NYT's statement:

"Tonight’s suspension of the Twitter accounts of a number of prominent journalists, including The New York Times’s Ryan Mac, is questionable and unfortunate. Neither The Times nor Ryan have received any explanation about why this occurred. We hope that all of the journalists’ accounts are reinstated and that Twitter provides a satisfying explanation for this action."

Beyond Adventure (vertical shot)

As far as I can tell, I was the first to take a Milky Way shot behind this island. A friend went a few days later and was the second. That's back when hardly anyone was shooting the night sky.

Flashforward to 2021 when I took this shot and I'm amazed at what cameras can do now. This image combines two photos taken of the same composition. The first is for the sky and the second longer exposure is of the ground. Then they are blended in software.
