Me in 2010: you should leave corporate social media.

Others: LOL, that's silly. They spread Democracy(TM)!

Me in 2015: you should leave corporate social media.

Others: sure, they spy on me, but I have nothing to hide.

Me in 2025: you should leave corporate social media.

Others: that wasn't a Nazi salute, I swear. And what about Engagement(TM)?

I’m excited to announce that I have graduated from University of Heidelberg with a MA degree in American Studies. My thesis conducted a mixed-methods analysis of #Standingrock on Facebook. I uncovered a computational propaganda campaign that exploited the Indigenous-led collective action and strategically diverted resources to leverage existing social divisions surrounding the development of US energy infrastructure. Thank you to my advisors Delia Dumitrescu, Wilfried Mausbach, and George Toth.
The world gets scarier.

It was an honor to present my research at the #AIW2023 in Budapest, Hungary. My research investigated the master narrative of utilizing Indigenous peoples within European political propaganda to depict an endangered national identity & culture since “Indigenous people remain potent symbols of outsider oppression for far-right extremism globally”.
