Before his great success, he would end everything with both a great rushed climax and a cliffhanger.
Pellucidar does this, and it's hilarious.
The great tribal revolt just kind of happens.
Then our hero is left before a horde of desert nomads in the surface. Next book: the arabs are actually pretty chill and help him.
