On to the finish line!

Today marks the half-way point towards my fundraising goal for the Davis Phinney Foundation, financially.

Would you take a moment (if you haven't already) today, and donate to DPF on behalf of my bike ride across Iowa taking place at the end of July?

This photo from 2019 is me with Davis Phinney and his wife Connie Carpenter-Phinney.

The idea that you can ONLY create relationships in physical proximity is ridiculous.

Are in person meetings more fun? They certainly can be. And they can be arranged. The experience of meeting Coach Dave is one I will remember for a long time, and I hope to recreate in the future.

But there are other ways to connect with people; I'll continue to build my relationship with Coach Dave, utilizing many communication mediums.

I often share this with people, most especially managers, particularly when they say they don't have relationships with co-workers anymore because people work from home.

When they speak of the need to bring everyone back to the office as the only way to create culture, I point to CoachVille (and organizations like Centric Consulting) that don't have physical locations and yet create strong cultures and relationships.

I had never met Dave in person before, and I began my education in 2018. Outside of a single picture, I didn't even know what he looked like most of that time, because until recently the classes were all held via audio conference only.

Outside of Dave's height (he's taller than me, which I didn't expect), our meeting held no surprises. After all, we crafted our relationship well beforehand, despite not being co-located, nor even meeting IRL ever.

I live... A life rich with experiences of family and friends.

That's one part of the truth of my life. The life I live, the life I design. And there are examples in moments like this that remind me that the life I'm designing is occurring before my eyes.

Here I'm with Coach Dave Buck, MCC, the CEO of CoachVille and its Center for Coaching Mastery. That's where I learned how to properly coach others, and where I am now an instructor as well.
