I'm a PhD #aviation #historian - mostly in #Britain, sometimes in #Australia, usually #military, always with lots of #emotion and #spectacle. (Air raids, air displays and phantom airships covers most of it!)

My first book was The Next War in the Air: Britain's Fear of the Bomber, 1908–1941 (Ashgate, 2014); my next will be Home Fires Burning: Emotion, Spectacle, and Britain’s First War from the Air (Cambridge UP, tbd).

One of my productive procrastinations is to georeference old maps that are vaguely relevant to my research. I have a sandpit specifically for the odds and ends, but sometimes I compile whole sets to show their coverage.

In this set, you can see the eight (surviving) maps made in 1814 to show how much of lutruwita/Van Diemen's Land/Tasmania had been occupied by the Europeans in the decade since 1803.
