My last two Washington Post stories on Elon Musk before Twitter suspended me and other journalists discussed his flirtation with QAnon and the public data about his private jet:

QAnon, adrift after Trump’s defeat, finds new life in Elon Musk’s Twitter

Musk has become so popular in QAnon circles that some regard him, not Trump, as the savior-like figure they’ve been waiting for.

The Washington Post

RT @Popehat
Let nobody deny Elon Musk is an innovator. Here he has taken the popular alt-right "free speech means you have to let me on your platform" meme and updated it to "free speech means give me money."

Elon Musk on Twitter

ā€œApple has mostly stopped advertising on Twitter. Do they hate free speech in America?ā€

Twitter

ā€œTo the extent that people remain active on Twitter, they preserve the viability of Musk’s gambit. The illusory sense of community that still lingers on the platform is one of Musk’s most significant assets. No matter which side prevails, the true victor in any war is the person selling weapons to both sides.ā€

Why I Quit Elon Musk’s Twitter

Jelani Cobb writes about his recent decision to quit Elon Musk’s Twitter, a social-media platform that once represented the new frontier of digital democracy.

The New Yorker
@parismarx Oof, I’m glad you pointed that out. I didn’t realize one’s net worth is a priority for the Post platform, ie; never call out an uber wealthy person’s actions? That sounds Twitterish. 😳
Musk's Twitter might not want its misinformation experts, but other companies do https://www.nytimes.com/2022/11/28/technology/twitter-misinformation-experts-hiring.html
Sympathy, and Job Offers, for Twitter’s Misinformation Experts

Seeing false and toxic information as a potentially expensive liability, companies in and outside the tech industry are angling to hire people who can keep it in check.

The New York Times
@QasimRashid Exactly. The ā€œfeel sorry for me,ā€ wealthy white person, as her victims don’t even get to have nightmares or dreams any longer. Just vile.

Another example of media failure.

This extremely wealthy woman was drinking, driving 80mph in her Mercedes, and killed two young boys w/her car in front of their families—but media portrays her as the victim.

This is how media normalizes white supremacy. Unacceptable.

The GLAAD Accountability Project monitors and documents individual public figures and groups using their platforms to spread misinformation and false rhetoric against LGBTQ people, youth, and allies. Some groups have misleading names inferring unwarranted expertise or credibility, when their main focus is advocating against LGBTQ people, and some claiming to be grassroots efforts have ties to national organizations with long histories opposing LGBTQ Americans.

You might have seen somebody using the proverb Vox Populi, Vox Dei. What was missing was the context in which it was used:

Nec audiendi qui solent dicere, Vox populi, vox Dei, quum tumultuositas vulgi semper insaniae proxima sit.

In case you do not speak Latin, it means in English:

And those people should not be listened to who keep saying the voice of the people is the voice of God since the riotousness of the crowd is always very close to madness.

@murshedz So many reasons to leave the egotistical twits.
