On Dec 2, 1859, Abolitionist John Brown was the first American ever executed for treason. The second ever executed for treason was Aaron Dwight Stevens (March 15, 1831 – March 16, 1860).

Legality is not always a measure of justice & morality, but a measure of power. This was only two life spans ago.

May we learn from these atrocities & uphold justice forever.

I have to admit, it’s pretty wild seeing such momentous events compressed into a timeline. There was such a clear cut *before* and *after* as my life was utterly transformed by being in RENT all those years ago. I celebrate & explore all of that (& more) in my show #WithoutYou

Handy glossary:

When white people complain about “critical race theory” or “wokeness,” they’re nostalgic for the days when they could be openly racist with no consequences.

A Didion classic (doubly resonant during the holidays, this disorienting time of grieving and re-grieving those we miss) https://www.themarginalian.org/2013/12/05/joan-didion-on-grief/

“Grief, when it comes, is nothing like we expect it to be.”

The Marginalian

Forgive me
I am strewn across multiple platforms
And I cannot coalesce a thought
The internet is so vast and
So cold

And I guess that’s a pretty good sketch of what I love. Plus #theater and #playwriting and #foraging. And all things #queer. And #AntiRacist and equitable educational practices and #schoolcounseling and- You get the idea.
Finding my way here reminds me how my interests connect and how online spaces can feel like home… search an author (probably #scifi and/or #lgbtq+) and follow them (plus all the other ones they are related to that I love), and one of those authors also loves #space so let’s connect to the astronauts and scientists and oh yeah the botany people, and one of them loves #knitting and #art and off we go, and now we’ve wandered into the #anticapitalist territory and now it’s feeling familiar again.
