Just to be crystal clear on where I’m at with this:
I own a gun. I have a gun so that if I ever have an injured goat and have to put them out of their misery, I can. It’s part of my responsibility to my herd. The gun lives in a safe. Luckily, I haven’t had to use it yet.
I also own a truck. For it, I have to be licensed by the state, insured, and have it registered with the state. Why? Because I could kill someone with it.
Gun ownership should be at least as onerous as owning that truck.
