Software engineer at day, wannabe gamedev at night!

I worship at the church of Emacs.

The word 'still' in the last sentence is perhaps overly optimistic 🙂
One observation is that new ideas are something rare and special. Another is that the tech industry is still providing very little actual value to the world.
Perhaps not the most unique shower-thought but have big corporations ever created good software? Seems like this pattern repeats to infinity. A single individual or small group of people creates something valuable, the organization grows or the software is bought and what was valuable slowly (or quickly depending on the quality of the it department) rots away in the hand of many (sometimes skilled) engineers until its so broken an alternative is made. Repeat. It's kind of depressing.
The dev process was nice then, but with all the progress made to the engine it must be pretty awesome now!
If I had a litle bit more time I would continue with my #godotengine conveyor belt game. It was loads of fun to work on!
@cstross Haha wow! Now we need to precision time his performance to avoid the rest of the circus of horror.
I am amazed over the Asahi Linux project. Installed without a hiccup and runs perfectly!
A positive surprise was how easy Steam/Proton has made it to run games on Linux. With almost no tinkering at all I get a steady 300+fps in Overwatch on Fedora Workstation 43. That's what kept me having a Windows installation. I'm now free from Windows.
@godotengine Amazing work from all contributors! Been using Godot casually for 8 years now, it was good back then, it is crazy good now!
