A lot of security flaws are being found in Linux lately, like Copyfail, Dirtyfrag, and Fragnesia.

That's not a bad thing. It's fantastic that they're being found. Now they can be repaired.

What's bad is the existence of nation state actors that probably already knew about these flaws, and were secretly using them for years to compromise political targets.

Insane Wish Time:

I wish people would stop using the term 'crypto' to discuss cryptocurrency.

'Cryptocurrency', as a word, is a unique enough term to establish meaning. 'Crypto' referred to general cryptography and general cryptographic processes long before Satoshi Nakamoto ever dreamt of Bitcoin. It's too confusing.

"I hate crypto!" they said.

Which crypto? Do you hate cryptocoin, or cryptography?

Any attempt to balance the rights of individuals and corporations will always end up with the corporation abusing the inherent power imbalance to find a means to circumvent the spirit of the rule and exploit the result for maximum profit.

The democratic process is never safe in a capitalist society.

I was thinking about how cool it would be to watch a video showing all the best clips of Lance Boyle from the first #Megarace game.

Then I remembered that there are no *best* clips. All the footage of Lance Boyle is exquisite.

I read a lot of tech support pages, and one consistent thing I see is this:

Alice posts that she's having a problem.

Nobody replies.

A few days later, Alice states that she's now tried troubleshooting steps X, Y and Z. She states that these steps were recommended to her by an AI chatbot.

Bob shows up. Bob berates Alice for wasting time on troubleshooting produced by AI chatbot.

Bob offers a solution. Bob obviously didn't read Alice's original post.

What a tricky situation for everyone!
