Almost all the dorfs have fallen down from exhaustion.

It's hard work

**ALL** the dorfs have passed out

As has the bird

Most are just over-exerted (too tired to do much), but @demonicdragon and @katelyn have actually passed out

They've been fighting this bird for several days now.

This could be bad, actually

It's been about 2 weeks

I'm going to start teleporting squad members out so they can restock with bolts, etc and food

After 4 weeks, I had to release the combat by teleporting to bird away

It'll die eventually

Because they've all been literally looking at a combat target for four weeks, they're all legendary Observers

We've also hit upon the age old problem of no water (frozen river) and slightly injured dorf == dehydration == death

@Nicktatorship may not last the winter

Yeahhhh

Sorry @Nicktatorship

Looked away for a bit and suddenly we're being invaded by badgers?

FUCKING OK THEN

Apparently it's a lot easier to murder badgers than it is to kill a giant cardinal https://mastodon.social/media/TmBRkfmA1v8wRyEeKOk
Alrighty, we're back in action at Spearromanced

Oh sweet, some migrants arrived.

Oh they brought children

(I generally don't assign people's names to babies because... they don't do shit)
Seems like it was just two dorfs & the baby, so @theoutrider and @antstiller got their incarnations
We've got our stockpiles still outside, and there are Keas on the map, soooo

The keas stole a few small things, which sucks.

Now we have a cougar, so we've formed up

All the bolts were shot at it, it didn't go down, so now... we're chasing it

A goblin thief has shown up to try and steal our one child

@[email protected] @checkervest and @udell_games are on the case

We've got human traders in (finally able to offload all these wooden goods!), and some keas floating about annoying us
(For those not aware, our 11 dorfs went up against a single Giant Cardinal and ended up battling it for a month or so, one dying of exhaustion/dehydration as a consequence)
Migrants are slowly trickling in, so if you want a dorf named after you let me know

Prob. gonna need to overhaul labor preferences, but first...

... lining up these cardinals to shoot them

I'm being very liberal with using the teleport tool to bring down flying enemies, because otherwise the dorfs climb trees which just... ugh

Getting ready for Cardinals vs Dorfs

Should be **==Fine==**

Teleported a cardinal down to the dorfs

Dorfs immediately climb trees

*long sigh*

Massed the dorfs downstairs instead, and teleported the cardinal (only 1 left) into the farming district

Apparently it died, but I can't find its corpse.

Hopefully it's being cutchered

Really on the fence about tracking books.

Like, it's interesting to have books your dorfs write turn up in forts, but they're a very large overhead to try and find and track, etc

So @Nicktatorship's corpse is still not interred, and @[email protected] keeps going into emotional shock walking past it.

Should prob. get onto that

It's really easy to forget your dead dorfs and the fact that *seeing* them fucks up your other dorfs

Oh no

Cavern connection on the main shaft.

Oh noooo

Whelp

I mean, I can prob. just wall it off, buuuuut...

... and just as we breach the cavern by accident, @RoseArtemis decides to make us an artifact!
Rose is a new migrant, so I've got no idea what she will try to do

She's gone for a craftsdorf's shop, so that's fine.

Was worried she'd want something for clay/sand

Just some badger bones and some stone, so prob. something low value - still, our first artifact for this run of forts, which is great!
Meanwhile, troglodytes are chilling in my stone industry district, so time to squad up https://mastodon.social/media/-XyGax41N3srEzcCiDA
The dorfs roll down, and @balketh and @RoseArtemis engage immediately (though Rose shouuuuld be making that artifact, and I have nfi how that works at all?)
@DarkestKale @RoseArtemis Hells yes, gonna cave them trog skulls in with my HOE, 'cuz I'm a DORF farmer, mofo! >8D
