@marrus_sh The GeoCities and Angelfire sites were DBZ and Sailor Moon webring members with visitor counters at the bottom of the page reading something like "2000 visitors! Wow!"
They would also have a splash page before the website proper asking if you wanted Frames or No Frames
@marrus_sh I'd say it was a simpler time, but looking at the webpage design aesthetic of the time that's patently false
