Hey don't put content warnings for things like "homosexuality mention" or "sex worker mention" just mentioning we exist shouldn't be put behind a content warning. That's incredibly dehumanizing.

Good CWs would be along the lines of "homophobia example" or "anti-sex worker discourse" where you're warning about things that could trigger/upset gay ppl or sex workers. Sex workers existing and being ppl isn't triggering unless you're a shitty person. Sorry but I saw a CW for "sex worker mention" :/

If you're wondering whether to put a CW for NSFW content on a post involving oppressed or marginalized ppl, just ask yourself if it would still warrant that CW if it were involving only Cis hets and civilians etc. It's not *more* NSFW for involving sex workers or LGBT ppl. Js
@TransCommunist people have some... weird views on content warning usage here, i've noticed
@girltype I think it'll get better as ppl get more used to it and we all kinda hammer out implicit community standards over time
@TransCommunist yeah, that's fair. it's just been really weird seeing stuff like "tag your communism, tag your trans stuff, tag your homosexuality :/" like wow do you want me to put a blanket tag on my account
@girltype ew all of that is really bad. Some people have *weird* triggers and there's nothing wrong with doing it for something like "dog mention" or something for a follower who asked for it. If anyone ever asks you to put CWs for "trans stuff" though, tell them to go to hell tbh
@TransCommunist yeah that's pretty much my feeling. it's also really weird seeing people ask for inappropriate stuff like that and then... not tagging for stuff like common phobias at all? you see it on tumblr a lot too, people have been given these social tools but not been taught how to use them appropriately so they're hammering screws
@girltype I actually enjoy the messiness to an extent. I like seeing how ppl come together and make these things work for themselves. But yeah, I'm glad everyone I follow on tumblr is good for this

.@TransCommunist I'm on ur side that most people like that are shitty persons. But can I say I am not? And is this a good reason to deny them filter souvereignty?

I once walked with a friend, and we accidentally passed through the redlight district. she was horrified (without knowing why ofc). She is a communist, but not very sensitive to feminism or to her own migrant patriotism, so hard to judge if she is a shitty person.

I think she deserves to judge if she wants to see sex work mentions.

@TransCommunist I thought about this earlier when I was going to do one for pornography.but then I was like shit, there's no need
@TransCommunist well said! i have several very dear friends who are sex workers and it pisses me off to no end to see both the stigma and erasure they face. these are amazing people doing important work imo. they deserve respect.
@TransCommunist I'm sorry, I'll delete the ones I posted. I was apprehensive about it bc i saw others yelled at for not putting one on for a similar post.
@sinn_fein_shooter oh god I didn't even mean to sub toot you tbh it's really ok. We're all gonna learn and adapt how we use these things. No worries at all! ❤️
@TransCommunist ah okay good! I didn't want to make anyone mad and just wanted to be cautious on here. ❤
@TransCommunist EW I can't believe someone would do that. Queer people and sex workers don't have triggering existences wtf
