@morph  interesting, but ¿maybe expensive?

@colegota @hobbsc It’s common OSRAM T8/G13 LED tubes, 6500K, 22W … not so expensive. https://gs.morphtown.de/url/70763
Hi people at !grow and !chili After read this thread by @morph I'm thinking in trying to grow my own using a non-working old fish tank.
I'd like to have opinions and suggestions about it.
The tube light system does not work, the idea it's to use the empty tank without cover.

For light I'm not sure if buy an all-in-one" compact tube [1] or maybe made a combination of linear lights [2].
Also read that combinations of blue and red leds are better that just white.
What do you recommend?

@mikael @morph have been looking at a big store and found this options for LED illumination:

.- 5m strip 6000ºK 1400lm 35€
.- 5m 3400lm 80€
.- 90cm tube 1000lm 18€
.- 5m RGB (you can choose the color) 40€

I'm thinking in use a rectangular surface like a shelf and paste lights at bottom (not sure if use the fish tank cover) maybe alternating 1m strips between white light with RGB in red or blue color.
The 80€ strips give more lumen (3400) while double price. I can afford it if necessary. While 3 tubes (not the old but modern ones) gives 3000lm for 54€ but more space and volume.

Any suggestions?

@colegota @morph those are very low output. You will need lots of them. The strip I use is 13500 lumen over 5 m. I have the strip placed about 15-20 cm over the plant. Each shelf is about 50 cm x 10 cm and the output from the 45 diods is 1350 lumen. About 20000 lux on each shelf. The spread on the ones I listed is 120°. http://www.rapidtables.com/calc/light/lumen-to-lux-calculator.htm
@mikael> Wow, 3400lm is massive.

Are we talking about the same? :)

Well, my fish tank it's 100x40 cm wide and 48 depth. I was thinking in using it first to bread the seeds (maybe with the cover to keep humidity) and later for grow (removing the cover).
How much lumen do you think I need for it?

@morph, while the cover had before a couple of fluorescent tubes, it did not work any more so I can't use normal LED tubes with old design.
@colegota @morph Aim for > 20000 lux. A 0.4 m2 area need 20000*0.4 = 8000 lumen hitting exactly that 0.4m2 area. http://www.growweedeasy.com/lux-meter for some figures.

I finally bought an specialized lamp for !grow !chili

@mikael @morph
It's a box with different colour leds mixing red, blue, orange and yellow, 90 in total giving 90W and 8500 lumen

The box also contains a fan that makes a little noise (just the wind, but I don't like that so much)
