#permaculture #design #augmentedreality

What if you could overlay site designs on top of physical reality? Walk around inside a virtual model of a proposed structure on-site? Geotag places where you planted seeds or made observations? Label identified species and tag them with info like blooming/ maintenance/ harvesting times? Overlay contour-lines, seasonal/daily sun/shade regimes, and other useful data? And share it all instantly/dynamically with your site's co-inhabitants and collaborators?

What about tools that #crowdsource observation, knowledge, and design ideas to collaboratively build and maintain a #commons #garden?

In #permaculture systems, the most resilient and productive patterns can in their complexity become illegible. Is that a crop or a weed? A path or a bed?

Sometimes this #illegibility is helpful, (to confuse and deter pests and other unwanted intruders.) But sometimes well-intentioned efforts can be counterproductive when critical local knowledge is lacking.

Useful information, (about what plants are thriving where and under what conditions, what's ready to harvest when, what's edible and what isn't, which spots tend to be wetter or drier or warmer or cooler,) is necessarily dispersed throughout. There's so much to observe! A larger and more diverse array of minds can more effectively collect and make use of this info.

I guess what I want is some kind of shared permaculture observation journal / wiki / 3d-geo-located mapping and design tool.

@evanarchitective This is a great idea. I would like to see something like this.
