capitalism is a sick and disgusting thing that we do to each other. food goes guarded; they will just let you starve. empty homes go guarded; they will just let you freeze. medicine goes guarded; they will just let you die.

it doesn't have to be this way. we don't have to do this to each other. i can't understand why we do.

@garbados Greed, mostly, and fear that if you give to others without receiving equal or better value, you will be unable to get what you need.
@garbados because the rich have always been in control. And they have only one interest: getting richer. It has always been this way sadly. We could do better as a species.

@garbados the only reason that food/house/medicine was created in the first place was to make money for the owner of the means of production, from whoever needed it.

Giving it away for free would make less money.

There are some of us who would rather do everything for free, while having our other needs provided for, but it only works if a critical economic mass does it (otherwise the ones who do quickly die of poverty). In the meantime it is very difficult to make that switch.

@garbados I would say that we do because we are taught to fear, to think of ourselves and not to take care of others, and because the social structures we built are oriented this way. Don't you think?
@garbados because if we didn't let society collapse, society might collapse
