For years, been thinking about this same “lull” Mossberg described in his final column. Stuff happens in the technocentric world surrounding the likes of Facebook and Amazon. But a lot of the enthusiasm is for what will be, not necessarily what currently is.
Some people get excited by a future they can grok. But that's just one possible future.
There's a very unequal distribution as to whose dreams become prominent.

Telling my partner about this, getting more insight into a shift happening, at least in my own experience. From excitement about (future, commercial) products, been getting increasingly excited by the process of creating some of my own technology. So, #TechnologicalAppropriation, DIY, #MakerCulture, and all that.
All sorts of neat possibilities. The future is diverse.
