so here's a vaguely interesting diversity-adjacent thing:

my current employer does not close on bank holidays with the exception of Christmas Day and Boxing Day, i.e. they aren't automatic days off. Employees get an extra 10 days of annual leave instead.

The idea is to allow people to "skip" bank holidays if they want longer yearly holidays instead, but it also has the interesting side effect that people to who Christian holidays mean nothing are (mostly) not forced to take those days off work

@Antanicus yeah, I've grown to really like it aside from the part where it's easy to accidentally miss the few bank holidays the UK gets :D

@Antanicus I have had problems trying to make appointments only to be told "uh, that's a bank holiday"

"oh, thanks for reminding me, I should book that off work then"
