"Ignore it and it will go away" is a childish response born of the idea that abusers are trolls, who are fishing for a response and nothing more. Abusers are not trolls. Abusers are hatemongers. In many ways they don't CARE about the response from the victim; it's getting to spew their hate without punishment that's what they want.

And the only way to get them punished is to speak out about it. So that's what I have to do in order to get to the world I want to live in.
