I speak fluent sarcasm and irony in real life but I'm really really bad at it online.
@NinahMarie Here, have some irony markers: ;-) ;-) ;-)
Sarkasm has to go without markers, sorry.
@Lapizistik is there a manual?
@NinahMarie If the wrong people applaud you it is irony, if everyone is angry at you it is sarcasm.
@NinahMarie typing it is a total different approach than speaking. When I read what I write, I start thinking, changing perspective writer/reader, starting edit... most of the spontanity ends in delete...
@vilbi haha I recognise that. That's why I seldom read before sending toots ...
@NinahMarie Join the club there, I think. Communicating via text can be damn tricky.
@sidawson Exact! Without body language you never really now the tone of voice of a text message. I use a lot of emojis but even that can be misinterpreted. Because people give different meanings to emojis and they don't look the same on different devices. I don't like phone calls neither. I have to see the person.
@NinahMarie <nod> yep, definitely. I can never understand emoji. So many different possible interpretations for each - there's a reason written language took over from pictograms! :)
